Rumble strips

·         Rumble strips

§  These are traffic calming devices typically used in response to speeding complaints in neighborhoods.  The Traffic Engineering department will only consider streets classified as local, residential streets; not collector or connector streets. Streets that are less than 1200 feet long or have a traffic signal will not qualify.   If the initial qualifications are met, a traffic study will be performed to determine if the criteria for minimum vehicular volume and speed are met. If both criteria are met, Traffic Engineering will provide the neighborhood representative a petition form to be circulated to all residents living within the identified affected area. If at least 70% of the residents living in the affected area provide a positive response, the rumble strips will be approved.
